Hi,

If I buy an LG BH16NS55, I am sure it will be UHD compatible ? (after flashing with WH16NS60 1.02MK firmware...)

Will I then be able to burn BD-R/RE or it will be blocked and in fact, I will only be able to read my BRD and BRD UHD ?
should still be able to burn if not flash to BH16NS55 1.05mk and try again

Flash WH16NS60 first it's faster and has no sleep bug
If burning fails then go to 1.05

Ok ! ^^

Anyway, I am thinking of using the LG just for making UHD backups and using my Pioneer only for burning...

If I crossflash with the firmware from Asus, I will no longer be able to burn ... :(

Hi.

Please help me figure out this issue:

LG WH16NS60 has 1.02MK firmware. Is it possible to flash 1.02MK to 1.00? And what is the best way to do it?

It doesn't seem to tell me anything. It shows "No disc inserted".

That is with a 4K disc inserted. Blu-ray seems to be read fine.

Start MakeMKV. Look at the part of the display marked "Info". You should see information like:
Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BDDVDRW UH08LS10
Revision: 2.00
Serial number: H9M9B395441
Firmware date: 2009-10-26 12:34:56
Highest AACS version: 76

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, might be supported in future, but not likely soon
Drive platform: RS1013
Firmware version: 2.00-00

No disc inserted
The information under "LibreDrive Information" will tell you if the drive is possible to use under LibreDrive, and if any flashing is necessary. The one I got the information from above isn't flashable right now.

Your link describes the drive as "Ultra Slim External 4K UHD", which means it is going to not be UHD-friendly without firmware changes. "UHD Official" drives lock out attempts to rip the video from UHD disks.

The LD information will be necessary.

No "LibreDrive Information". Just:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: DN13
Serial number: MO9K6D81503
Firmware date: 2119-07-04 14:26
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 63

No disc inserted

Am I missing something?

What version of MakeMKV are you running? A BU40N drive should show good LD information...

MakeMKV v1.16.5 [win(x64-release)]
GUI version: v1.16.5 [win(x86-release)]
License type: Time-limited

Am I not using the right one?
