Defective 16D1HT?

Post by Frosafelix »

I had an "accident" with my 16D1HT yesterday, it fell on the floor from a height of 1 meter. It's connected to my PC with an adapter which you plug on the back of the optical drive and that has its own power source. When I try to use it after this happened, its blue light is there as usual, but the eject button is unresponsive. Should I assume that it is broken, or can it be a problem with the adapter? I haven't got a spare one to figure out where the underlying problem is, does anyone here have experience of drives dying after such a fall?

It hit the floor bro, it is most likely internally messed up, open the chassis and remove the drive tray faceplate, looks for issues and try to open close it.

Is the chassis twisted? Is the tray faceplate jammed?
