Auto Spanish titles? makemkv MIB 4K

How do I get makemkv to process men in black to only show english subtitle when spanish is spoken?


I checked the english subtitle and (forced) but no english subtitle is not popping up for when tommy lee jones speaks spanish.

What am I doing wrong?

I assume you're talking about around 00:04:30 into the movie. On the 1080 blu-ray, those subtitles are burned into the movie from the studio; they aren't a separate subtitle track. I don't have MiB on 4K, so I can't comment how it works on the UHD.

Not all of the Spanish dialog is subtitled; only about half of it. Most of it is incidental. K's instructions to the captured people starts having subtitles. On the DVD version, they're hard-coded into the video, not a track.

Hopefully someone can comment on this how to get subtitles during spanish to english for 4k.

Ok, yup, there are no burn in subtitles in the 4k disk of mib1. I popped in the 1080p blu-ray disc in and it has burned in subtitles.

I left a 1 star review & explaining that 4k UHD disk has no burned in english subtitles of the spanish part for MIB1 on amazon reviews as thats where I bought the set from.

But, don't you know that Americans are all supposed to be fluent in Spanish now? Back when the DVD and BD came out, that wasn't the case.

I've got very little experience with 4K, but I have seen a few messages about the subtitles being screwed up on HDR and DV movies.

amazon refunded me the set and said to keep the set no return.

still doesnt fix the problem.

To fix it yourself you could try to rip them to text with AVISubDetector.
