It claims to flash ok :
Code: Select all
PS C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV> .\makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d F: rawflash -i C:\Users\johnk\Downloads\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin
Reading input file C:\Users\johnk\Downloads\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin
Flashing flags = 0x0 : 0 0 0 0 : ---- ---- ---- ----
Current Drive ID: HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH16NS60_1.03_212005081010_XXXXXXXXXX
Ready to write drive flash memory. (auto confirmed)
Operation started: Sending flash image to drive
100% Operation finished
Operation started: Programming flash
100% Operation finished
Done successfully
PS C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV>
But when I try it afterwards it still lists the original firmware and doesn't work :
Anyone got any suggestions?

You have to add the "enc" option since your original firmware is encrypted. Good Luck!

Per the
Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021
Newer OEM Firmwares and encrypted:
New Encrypted firmware
List of Know Encrypted firmware (so far,
any firmware with date in 2020 is encrypted)
HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.03-N000600-212005081010.bin
Change your command line to include the 'enc' switch...
.\makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d F: rawflash
enc -i C:\Users\johnk\Downloads\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin

Thanks so much! I was having issues with my flashing my drive in Linux as well until I found this thread.
For those that may need this help, I ran the following as above and was able to downgrade my 1.05 drive to 1.02 using:
./makemkvcon f --all-yes -d drivename -f /path/to/sdf.bin rawflash enc -i /path/to/flash-file.bin
I hope that helps someone else if they run into this issue!
