Read errors while ripping Mr. & Mrs. Smith

I am trying to rip Mr. & Mrs. Smith BD:

The rip completes about 70%.
Then the NT eventlog starts reporting: The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block.

If I rip from a SATA drive, MakeMKV reports a read failure, and aborts the rip.
If I rip from a USB drive, MakeMKV UI stops responding, and I have to powerdown the USB drive before MakeMKV starts responding again.

I tried to rip the disc using a different ripping product, it also reported a read error.

The disc plays fine on a BD player.

Unless all of your drives are failing, which I doubt, I'd speculate that your disc is either physically damaged or dirty. Try cleaning the disc.

Did you purchase a new disc or a used disc from Amazon?

The disc appears physically clean and scratch-free.
Purchased new from Amazon.
Plays fine on my Panasonic BP player.
Fails to read on two different BD drives in my PC, both Plextor drives.
Will try with a different brand BD drives.

I am unable to get this one either with a brand-new disc out of the production case from BB. No scratches or problems with the disc. It will play in any machine but I get the following error at the very end of the rip (very frustrating!!!):

It will rip all of the other titles on the disc just not the feature.

Hi!

Try using MakeMKV to first make a FULL DISC backup - and then use that backup as your source for making the .MKV...
