All sorts of errors during first part of operation before you get to the choose file list. I had to cancel it.

What are the errors

Strange - it worked today.

Not sure - only difference was I plugged directly into rear USB3.0 ports on motherboard, instead of the front USB3.0 ports I normally use for convenience (the cables on the external drive housing I use are way too short)

I did notice some instablity in use when it was in front hub - would say no disc one minute and then unplugging and plugging would make it recognise drive.

My housing has two cables actually - one for power and the other data I presume.

They're both for power and one is also data. USB powered drives often need more power than a single USB cable can supply. Unpowered USB hubs are also a source of frustration for users.

I was just trying to do a rip of Rogue One 4K there and everything was going well until about 5 minutes into it, when I heard the drive spin down and stop moving completely.

I checked MakeMKV and the read numbers were all sitting still and increasing.

About 5 minutes later while I was looking at it suddenly I got a blue screen freeze of entire Windows 10 PC - DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

In case anyone is wondering, the disc ripped without errors the second time I tried. I have since learned that the external drive needs to be completely unpowered and disconnected from PC every day before trying to use it with MakeMKV otherwise it goes crazy and doesn't work at all.
