What do you mean by this, cracked how? And why would this mean no new firmware? Usually something being cracked means it gets patched with new firmwareMOHAX777 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 8:28 amRecently, the Ugoos firmware has been cracked (hole in the amlogic side), so it is very likely that there will be no new firmware.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 12:07 amJust gotta wait for a ugoos update, I just sent them another email.

Possible, the AM7 has been looming for a while, wouldn’t be the first Chinese Android Manufacturer to ‘abandon’ a box.bedders wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 11:51 amWhat do you mean by this, cracked how? Movie doesn't matter. Seeing the same with any FEL movie I play. Gladiator, Power Rangers as well.Ride_UL wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 7:43 pmIgnore this moviebobbymkV wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 3:02 amWatched a new 1917 mkv in its entirety with Kodi - no fast forwarding or pausing. The Ugoos glitched a couple times at like the 35m mark and then around 80m. It was similar to what it does at the start and eventually fixes itself.
Not sure how to convey issues like these to Ugoos support. We are using an unofficial build of Kodi and they probably need sample files to test.
Same issues on any AndroidTV too (No FF or Pausing)

Extract the hevc stream from mkv with mkvextract (or tsmuxer, ffmpeg, mkvcleaver) and then demux the hevc stream with yusesoap tool (DEMUX.bat) which will split the layers and then build a new dual-layer dual-track mp4 with the mp4muxer

In the latest firmware has been added protection, so that the firmware cannot be installed on other "unnamed" china media boxes - fight against loss of money by Ugoos. Since this protection has been cracked, there may no longer be any significant improvements to the firmware.bedders wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 11:51 amWhat do you mean by this, cracked how? He means Cheap Chinese boxes are using Ugoos firmware on their boxes, Ugoos encrypted the firmware but it has been cracked.
There is no financial incentive to develop software for a chipset if people steal it to use on non Ugoos hardware.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Do cheap boxes with this SoC even exist or is this a direct incrimination of the developments with the Minix?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm definitely on the fence about returning mine at this point as I'm not really confident in any improvements. I got my AM6+ through a marketplace seller on Walmart.com. The return policy was standard for a large company, but I was mistaken in thinking it was shipped from the U.S. I learned in the process that it definitely originated in China and who knows how much work it will be to get the seller to reimburse me and if I'd have to get Walmart involved. This is basically why people wanted the option of the Minix in the first place....

if the software improvements can be ported to Corelec then it won’t make a difference which box you have, all will be good.bobbymkV wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 6:08 pmI'm definitely on the fence about returning mine at this point as I'm not really confident in any improvements. I just went through that latest CE thread (with appearances from you ) and that future doesn't look so bright as to require shades lolDaMacFunkin wrote:if the software improvements can be ported to Corelec then it won’t make a difference which box you have, all will be good.bobbymkV wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 6:08 pmI'm definitely on the fence about returning mine at this point as I'm not really confident in any improvements. Ol' reliable X700 still going though
This Ugoos thing was too good to be true.

Haha! I still have my Oppo 203 and its NAS capabilities to fall back on. These are obviously first world problems. I'm just so tired of keeping separate processes and libraries. I want the whole gang under one roof!bgalakazam wrote:Ol' reliable X700 still going though

yep, I still have hope but not much after reading the latest comments here
this player is amazing in my opinion. I read that it is sometimes buggy with disc playback but from my experience with file playback via USB, it's 100% stable/reliable.
last night I found another great thing this player can do: If you connect an HDR10 only TV and play a dual-layer DV TS file, the x700 is somehow tonemapping FEL with dynamic metadata to HDR10. I knew this worked for p5 files but it's very surprising that it also works with profile 7 DV FEL/MEL.

*I encoded my capture file if you want to see the fel ghosting and dynamic meta flashing:(keep in mind, this is on an HDR10 TV.. so this is kind of ''dynamic'' HDR and 12bits enhancement on a static HDR10 TV/PJ it is basically what the vertex 2 has been promoting )

That's indeed ineteresting, thanks, I bet the Oppo does the same.
I think everyone can try this out by forcing HDR10 output.
