Low Read Speed and Hashcheck Error

#1 Post by drsteelpotato » Mon Mar 29, 2021 3:04 am

Hey everyone,

I got an LG WH16NS40 drive that is currently flashed to the WH16NS60 1.02 MK firmware. It takes a long time to do anything with a 4K disc, but when I finally get it to begin ripping, it goes for about 10 minutes at about [0.1X] read speed then eventually fails with multiple HashCheck errors listed as the reason.

I am rather new to this, so is there something that I am doing wrong? The drive rips regular Blu-rays without issue.

Thanks for the help!

Ok sounds good. Is it only defective for ripping 4K or can it also not play 4K? Was thinking of using the drive (with the right firmware) to play my 4K discs using AnyDVD and PowerDVD while I wait for the new one.

Thanks for the help!

Does it do this with every 4K disc? Or have you only tried one or two? It very much could be a defective drive… or it could be that the drive doesn't like a particular disc.

As many others have mentioned UHD disks are much more likely to throw Hash Check and other errors.

One of the earlier respondents asked how many disks you have had this had occurr with, but the answer "All of them" does not clarify how many.

I have found disks that will not work with my 2014 Intel MBPr will work with my 2020 M1 MBR, and some that will work on a windows machine-this is with the same drive actually doing the reading without throwing errors.

For Blu Rays, not 4k, I have more drive options, and find that disks just respond to different drives and machines differently.

Another thread has an interesting comment from MIke (so he has good insight-as the developer) about options that I saw today and look forward to trying: viewtopic.php?t=23552
