I was wondering if LibreDrive could be applied to this drive?
Here is a firmware dump.

WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
Re: WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
How to tell: Start MakeMKV. What does MakeMKV say about the drive?

Re: WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
Makemkv says that it is not supported yet, but may be in the future. It's an RS1013 drive though, and other users in this forum have mentioned how implementing LibreDrive is easily possible. I just don't know how to do it.
Re: WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
Ah, it's a Pioneer drive. No change yet on support for those, and no firmware to fix that yet, either. Several of us have submitted firmware dumps, though, so it's still on the "maybe someday" list. Your firmware will add to the possibility.
It should be a good drive for writing and regular BDs though.

Re: WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
It is, just got that damned speed limitation.
Re: WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
Allegedly, Pioneer has a Windows-only (last I found it) utility for removing the rip lock restriction. They refer to it as keeping the drive quiet when used in a home theater application. It used to come on the driver disk that came with the drive, but... when was the last time you saw a driver disk?
Edited to add:
Last year, user Chris Kelly posted a link to the Pioneer setup disk on their Japanese site. I just verified that the link is still active; it takes you to their disclaimer page, which you can then agree to sign your human rights away to get the setup program:

Re: WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
Wait hold up I just realized the drive says LG on the front, I'm a bit confused. It's an HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH10LS30, and both the drive and the internet says it's LG.

This is the one I have.

Re: WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
When you start MakeMKV, what hardware does it report?
In optical drives, brand can mean very little - the different manufacturers private-label each others' drives all the time. MakeMKV will report the hardware found in the LibreDrive section of the information window. My LG in this computer is a Pioneer drive; the two Asus drives on my main ripping computer were built by LG.

Re: WH10LS30 LibreDrive?
Yep, definitely Pioneer guts, so the Pioneer settings program should be able to turn performance mode on.
I'm using my similar drive right now, and it's pulling a rip speed of 4+ speed on a DVD. I'm pretty sure I ran the speed-up program back when it was new, a long time ago, in a computer far, far away.

Damn, the tool doesn't detect my drive.
