Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Just ripped 1917 and after a little choppiness in the begining playback has been flawless.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm not able to trigger DV with mkv container on plex/ugoos... is there a special build that I need to sideload like Kodi?
I'm also getting 2.0 audio only...
For fun, I checked LLDV vs TV-LED and they both look pretty much the same to me(no big difference as Vincent showed on the oppo). I only checked one movie, one scene, so maybe the difference is not the same from one movie to another ?

If you check the CPU usage between TV led and player led is there much difference?

Check "Eagle" scene from SM UHD HDR Benchmark (around 6:34 time mark)RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 12:11 amFor fun, I checked LLDV vs TV-LED and they both look pretty much the same to me(no big difference as Vincent showed on the oppo). Gives your description, I think you might be transcoding. If Plex doesn’t think your system can handle the native audio, it will direct play the video and transcode the audio, which totally breaks DV. I spent half a day on this once on my Shield because ... I connected BT headphones and this issue broke my DV.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 12:11 amI'm not able to trigger DV with mkv container on plex/ugoos... is there a special build that I need to sideload like Kodi?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Tried a full movie last night on the Mininx/Ugoos - They live.
I did a straight rip with Makemkv and the FEL presentation and Atmos surround was a delight, really good.
Bugs... after about 10 minutes I had a screen resynch but the movie recovered, then again about 52 mins I had a resynch but after that it was slightly glitchy (frame skips) so I paused the movie and started it again and it was fine till the end of the movie.
On pressing stop it didn’t unload back to the Kodi interface (best guess Dolby decoder froze, seen this on other devices) until I long pressed the power button (idk).
Overall this is the device, if the manufacturers can officially support this project we will have a winner

Hey that Player works really very well. I have some stuttering when I select a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, but that's doesn't really matter to me because I don't have a Atmos sound system.Try latest Vimu Player 8.90 from this page: https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=777309

It sure seems to affect more the scenes where FEL adds a lot to the image and I guess FEL doesn't add much to the MI scene that I compared last night because there's indeed a noticeable difference in certain scenes of the SM disc. Especially the red flower frames where it's very noticeable. But not much different on some other scenes like in the Eagle one though. lldv seem to be slightly more saturated/darker.

thank you. I'll check the audio settings in plex. I use the same plex server on the shield and there's is no audio transcodingnorrellmeister wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 4:54 amGives your description, I think you might be transcoding. DV works with ts and mp4 files though.
EDIT:
yes, that's the problem. My DV MKVs have Atmos audio and plex try to transcode(because there is no ac3 core in truehd /mkv) so DV doesn't work indeed. If I select an AC3 track before playing the movie then DV is triggered. I'm still getting 2.0channel even though plex says direct play and as I said, same plex server on my pc that works with the shield.
DV works much better on plex... i hope they add lossless support there

One other thing I noticed, DO NOT fast forward/rewind or skip through the movie because it unsync the FEL. You don't really see it in the movie but every time you skip to the ending of Power Rangers, there is visible fel ghosting.
same behavior on plex and kodi ... no problem on the x700

But I guess if spares was originaly done in p5
There would probably be no diff.
Can u do a true p5 LLDV vs p5 rgb-8dv comparison?
I don’t think Vincent tested p5 actual file I know he tested streaming vs uhd disc.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm trying this out and got an unknown USB device error. In tsMuxer do you choose to output it as blu-ray folder or AVCHD folder? And do you leave the M2TS file in the BDMV\STREAM folder or put the M2TS file in the root directory of the USB drive? Thanks for any extra guidance with this, I'm excited to get this working.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 1:15 amthis is not UGOOS related but I just learned that if you remux DV to bluray folder structure with tsMuxer and you put the files in the root of an USB drive, the Sony x700 is able to play it in dolby vision with chapters, working FF RW for long movies and no more green screen bug when you stop playback.

choose bluray folder in tsMuxer and put the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders in the root of the USB drive. The BDMV folder will show up as AVCHD on the x700 and you play that folder.goomba wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 9:17 pm

I'm not sure if the CERTIFICATE folder is really needed, I never tried without it.
I did more experimenting with the UGOOS & plex:RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 6:02 pmI'm still getting 2.0channel even though plex says direct play.
1- TrueHD, AC3 and EAC3 are all sent as LPCM 2.0 in PLEX even if it says direct play.
2- DTS and DTS-HD are sent as LPCM 5.1 in PLEX
3- For Kodi my vertex says ''Audio Bitstream'' and my AVR reports the proper audio for every format.
4- strangely, while testing plex with many many of my movies and without changing anything to the settings, two times I've seen my vertex reporting ''audio bitstream''. One time with EAC3 atmos (avr showed ATMOS) and one other time with AC3 (avr showed DD).. stopped playback, re-played and boom back to lpcm 2.0
so it looks like audio bitstreaming of any lossy or lossless format is not working on PLEX. Hopefully, future updates can fix that and allow lossless passthrough because FEL DV works very well on PLEX. The ugoos have great potential to be THE device we all wanted to have.
5- Composite kodi addon, you can play movies from your plex library. DV mkv and audio bitstream works too but it seems FEL playback is not stable.
As for HDR10 being sent in 8bit when DV is enabled:
the fastest method is just to enable LLDV when you want to watch HDR10/SDR content and enable tv-led DV for DV content. Otherwise, if you just turn off DV, you also have to select 422 in colorspace settings.
