how do you activate auto-frame rate match in KODI ? i found the setting on plex and it works but it doesn't match the frame rate on Kodi.... sorry for the noob question, I'm not used to those android apps/device, I'm an HTPC guy.

Hi RESET_9999, could you try SDR and HDR10 tests again after changing: Android Settings > Device Preferences > Display > Dolby Vision > Dolby Vision disable?

I noticed that doing that changed the output colourspace. It would be a huge pain to have to switch this setting on and off manually when switching between SDR/HDR10 and DV content, but let's at least see if it gives correct colour output first.

I think I tried that but I'm not sure so I'll check again. I tried forcing 422 and I was hoping to get 12bit but no luck
444 12bit is possible, it's the x700 HDR10 default mode.. I force 422 on the x700 for the comparison because my capture card doesn't support 444 12bit.

I've compared DV with my x700 and it looks pretty much the same to me. My DSLR camera captured a small difference that I didn't notice in real life. MUCH better than the Shield for sure!!!

Great to hear that x700 plays DV from the bd structure I had S6700 which also supported bd structure, but the screen used to freeze for few seconds while forwarding/rewinding. Does this mean it's better to go for sony? Unfortunately i can't purchase ugoos or minix at my place.

I just tried the tsmuxer-to-BDMV method on my Sony X700 with Spiderman Homecoming, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the forced subs came on in the sandwich shop scene at around 15mins. Forced subs don't work via the m2ts method as far as I know.

I get round this problem by converting everything to DV, it does a very good job converting SDR and HDR.

Any difference between Ugoos and Minix in terms of DV format support? Which one would you
recommend,?

Funnily enough I found the Minix loaded with the Ugoos 4.0 firmware to perform slightly better than the Ugoos when using Kodi in terms of stuttering after seeking. I've also found that running the DV mkv through mkvtoolnix after being created in MakeMKV makes it perform in terms of stuttering in Kodi. Hopefully of course all of these issues will be sorted in Kodi. So at the moment my recommendation is to get the Minix and load the Ugoos firmware on it!

When using the minix, after I stop the Dolby vision movie and the Kodi gui shows up I see what looks like another refresh rate change. Also the same when I exit Kodi and go back to the android interface. Do you experience that?

Same problem here everything is buggy, sometimes I have to start a Dolby Vision mkv 3 or 4 times before it works correctly

But dam all that millions spent twice on the same movie but it is well done this time

The HBO stream is in DV. Guessing the scene releases can’t properly capture DV from HBO yet.
