yep, I agree. this is the best movie to verify if FEL is processed by the device.

So it's save to assume that Ugoos and Minix with custom firmware do support the FEL DV? And I know there is also Google TV with Chromecast ( don't onow wether it truly supports it or not ). What's your opinion about it?

I don't know, I didn't receive mine yet. I'm sure someone will try the ending credits of Power Rangers and confirm soon.

I'm not sure if the Chromecast really supports FEL eventhough there is FEL noise when you play the sample with fake DV layer. I'm saying this because Manix and I tested the total recall and there was no FEL processed. We didn't share because Manix messed up the colors so I'm not sure about the accuracy of that comparison (manix has to re-do). So even if the SOC supports dual video decoding, I think if the DV SDK doesn't, then you don't get FEL DV.

I think I've already mention but the Ugoos definitely processes the FEL on Power Rangers - the end credits are white rather than grey when not processing the FEL.

Hey folks, stopped ripping a couple years ago waiting for DV ripping to be possible. Is there a TLDR on where we're at with ripping this format? I assume it all works by now and its just finding a good enough player?

Can someone create definite FEL test sample mkv with Power Rangers end credits ?

I can test Minix (with Ugoos FW port). Also we can ask others to test other players.

Now we just a dev to port CoreELEC to 32bit and we could have this working without android.

What? It only works on Kodi with Android.
Linux doesn't support any of this.

No, if the 32 bit dovi.ko will work on CoreELEC.

Hi, RESET_9999, what do you mean with "I'm saying this because Manix and I tested the total recall and there was no FEL processed"?
- Both of you had tested Total Recall with Chromecast with Google TV and saw that it doesn't process FEL?
- The Total Recall scene playback can't prove the FEL processing?

As I said before, I tested have tested the Total Recall escene in my Chromecast with Google TV:

Test equipment:
- Chromecast with Google TV updated with february firmware
- Panasonic HZ1000 OLED TV updated with last firmware
- Plex server and Plex for Android TV app beta, updated to last beta version
- Emby server beta and Emby for Android TV app beta, updated to last beta version

As I reported before, none of the samples provided by RESET_9999 activate Dolby Vision in my case, except de P8 MEL test, that shows clearly the compression artifacts.

At the end I got a copy of the DV version of Total Recall (1990) and I proceeded to test it in the scene at 43 minutes, the spaceship landing.
I created a single track double layer Dolby Vision FEL profile 7 mkv file with MakeMKV.

I have made 3 playback tests and the results are curiously the following:
- Normal playback in Dolby Vision: No artifacts shown!, so it's processing the FEL layer, isn't it?
- Playback disabling the Dolby Vision compatibility in my TV: my TV reports it plays as HDR10 and... don't show artifacts!
- I created a HDR10 version with MakeMKV selecting only de HDR10 layer (NO the EL layer): it shows the artifacts clearly.

The image quality of the Dolby Vision version is very good for me, with no artifacts and a punchy impact.

Unfortunately, as known, the SDR screenshots I did are of no utility because of the wrong colour and detail.

yes, the total recall capture sample manix provided showed that the Chromecast doesn't process FEL but we didn't share the results because I'm not 100% sure of the capture accuracy. Manix might have messed/mixed up the sample/settings, he'll have to re-do.

One thing is about this scene, P8 DV also helps the artifacts compression. On my setup, I can clearly see a difference between p8 and HDR10 but I don't notice an as big difference between p8 and p7.

You can try the ending credits of Power Rangers, but manix said he wasn't able to FF there without plex crashing. maybe you'll have more luck.

Same here, your DV P8 test file shows better than HDR10.
Did you see compression artifacts in the DV FEL version in Chromecast? It looks like the P8 file or how?
And, what about the fact that I can't see any compression artifacts in the Dolby Vision FEL mkv I made? It could be yor setup?

I'm trying to get the Power Rangers, 2017 film, if I finnally can test it I'll tell (it could be possible you'll make some test files with the credits?)
Effectively some DV files (P7 and P8) have problems with time seeking, they can only play from begining and only accepts pause and resume. It will be a matter of letting it play and setting an alarm when it's ending and reaches the credits.
