BRUHD-PU3-PK BU12 to BU10?

#1 Post by Seel68 » Wed Oct 28, 2020 8:11 am

Hi, I bought BRUHD-PU3-BK in Japan. its FW is BU12.
And I'm going to try to downgrade it, but I'm afraid it's right.

1. Use ASUS Flasher with HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-BU12-OM01001-211902230922.bin(BU40N-B-Japan-Buffalo folder).
(Or with HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.04-NM00500-212005061142(BU40N-N-Main folder)? Confused..)

2. Flash it again with DE_Buffalo_BRUHD-PU3_BU10.

* At first, I tried to downgrade it without MK(only with DE_Buffalo_BRUHD-PU3_BU10), but failure #4 popped up. :(

Please make sure it's correct.

It worked! I can play my UHD Blu-ray now! :D
God bless you. I truly appreciate that!

I have the same drive setup as Seel68. I haven't been able to flash it as I can't get the ASUS flasher (ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified) (24.8.2019) to work for some reason. Every time I try to run it it will open but automatically closes after about 10 seconds. Then, after about another 10 seconds or so, it will completely disappear from my system as though I deleted the file. I have to extract another copy from the downloaded .zip file. Doesn't matter how many times I extract and try to run the file, the same thing happens. How do I get around this? All suggestions are appreciated.

That sounds like an anti-virus/malware app stopping a questionable file execution, & deleting/quarantining the offending file. If you run such protection, check detection logs.

Or, try this instead... SDFtool Flasher

Turns out you're exactly right. My anti-virus program was quaranteeing the file every time I ran it and was not informing me that it was doing it. I added the program to the real-time scanning exception list and it ran fine. Did both the recommended flashes and now I can process UHD discs.

Thanks for jogging my brain. I should have realized that right off the bat.
