I am using this app to play DV MKVs in a Android TV:
https://github.com/moneytoo/Player/releases

It uses latest exoplayer version and it always has periodic updates.

100% of mp4 profile 5 works.

Only some profile 7 doesn't works for me in this app, like Game Of Thrones and Marvel Movies.
I have tried this application on Sony Xh90 and it doesn't work well, it doesn't work when I try to open the movies folder, it doesn't do anything, neither the online nor the offline version
There is no system file chooser on Android TV but you may try installing Material Files app. Unfortunately my access to Android TV is limited.

You have to open your File Explorer, select the movie and "Play as" JustPlayer. If you open the player to choose the file, it doesn't work, because JustPlayer doesn't have acess to the File Explorer in Android TV.

If you have some samples that doesnt work in ExoPlayer, please share it with me so I can report it to them. They are quite active on fixing reported issues, like this one about Dolby: https://github.com/google/ExoPlayer/issues/8530

the code is based of plex ffmpeg version

I tried it, the 19 RC1 version and it plays DV but with micro-stuttering, especially in sweeping and landscape scenes

You mean that when I installed the player I didn't give it storage permissions to be able to access the USB content?

No, no... I mean that the app doesn't have that permission, not in newer versions. In Android for smartphones the app works perfectly with all functions, but in Android TV has some issues and we have to do somethings to work properly. The solution that I found is:

Use this file manager to explore your external disk:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tv.explore

Play the movie of your choice, the file explorer will ask with which app, and you select Just Player. It will work properly. The only problem that I don't found any solution yet it's load external subtitles in external disks, but this is a exoplayer problem, I think.

I’ve managed to get kodi to play Dolby Vision via exoplayer. Works great. Was wondering if there is a code and where to put it, if I rename my 4k movies to have “Movie Name (2020) Dolby.Vision.mkv for those movies that DV so that it plays non DV in the default player and will play Dolby.Vision files in the exoplayer?
Yes, this is possible. You need to add a rule in your playercorefactory.xml. I, for example, have a rule to use ExoPlayer only when a movie has "Dolby.Vision" in the filename. Here is what I have in my XML:

- <playercorefactory>
- <players>
- <player name="ExoPlayer" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true">
<filename>com.google.android.exoplayer2.demo</filename>
<hidexbmc>true</hidexbmc>
<playcountminimumtime>120</playcountminimumtime>
</player>
</players>
- <rules action="prepend">
- <rule video="true" player="dvdplayer">
<rule filetypes="mkv" filename=".*Dolby.Vision.*" player="ExoPlayer" />
</rule>
</rules>
</playercorefactory>
Is only for shield? or work in android tv?

Hi I have read a lot about how to get Dolby Vision with FEL to play on my LG CX. It seems like the internal player of LG CX can only play Dolby Vision with MEL and not FEL is this true? Also what filetypes can it play, can the LG CX play mkv with Dolby Vision MEL? Will the LG CX’s internal player never be able to play Dolby vision with FEL?

If the internal player is not the way to go would I have to get the x700 to play Dolby Vision with FEL, or could some of these chinese oppo clones do it? Which one should I get, would the M9702 v3 be able to play Dolby Vision FEL with lossless audio? I saw one that costs 50 dollars on ebay is this legit? Where can I see what devices play Dolby Vision with FEL and the filetypes supported?

I’m new to the scene and just got my LG CX a few weeks ago would really appericiate if somebody could answer my questions. I feel like it is so hard to get information on this stuff compared to other tech stuff. There is just this and avforums that talk about it

Great, I'll try it, because yesterday with version 19 it didn't work either, it gave an error.
Thank you, I'll try it and tell you

Great, to see if I have more luck, with version 19 and trying to play from the file explorer it gave me a playback error.
This is v.21 tonight when I get home I'll try it. What version do you use offline or online?

Offline version for local files. Depending on the file explorer, you will experience playback problems, it only worked for me this file explorer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tv.explore

Good morning, I have done tests with Just Player on the XH90 tv and it plays through the Dolby Vision file browser, but the same as the Kodi 19 RC1 version, with microtactmutters. I begin to think that it is lack of power of the tv or that I pay too much attention. But in scenes from the Hobbit, such as when you see a landscape, on the map or even in the Warner Bros start sign, when you move you see small jerks that do not give fluidity.

Yes, this is possible. You need to add a rule in your playercorefactory.xml. I, for example, have a rule to use ExoPlayer only when a movie has "Dolby.Vision" in the filename. Here is what I have in my XML:

- <playercorefactory>
- <players>
- <player name="ExoPlayer" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true">
<filename>com.google.android.exoplayer2.demo</filename>
<hidexbmc>true</hidexbmc>
<playcountminimumtime>120</playcountminimumtime>
</player>
</players>
- <rules action="prepend">
- <rule video="true" player="dvdplayer">
<rule filetypes="mkv" filename=".*Dolby.Vision.*" player="ExoPlayer" />
</rule>
</rules>
</playercorefactory>
Can you pls give un example?
For example: Gemini man (2019).mkv.Dolby.Vision.
or what?
I tried different ways but dont work.
Thank you
