Pretty sure it only supports Profile 5 single layer mp4.

the oppo support all the profiles/containers (except mkv) just like the x700/x800m2...
dual-layer DV in an mp4 or ts or m2ts container is all the same.

Dune's FW changelog then lie? :(

is there a real noticeable difference between the P7 FEL and the DVS10 Engine? (RPU metadata only)?
If you see my comparison, I see the Dune with better image than the chinoppo with FEL supported at 100%.

On the other way, if the FEL layer is not really taken into account by the Dune, even if it reproduces it ..
my TV is an LG OLED, compatible with FEL, in principle? If I select "Dolby Vision Output Mode" in "tv-led", would the benefit of the FEL layer from Dune to LG OLED?

Or if i connect the Dune HDMI OUT to chinoppo HDMI, So if it would process the FEL layer?

Thanks for your time.

I don't know if the Dune processes the FEL layer correctly or not, but the file plays smoothly. The TV displays the Dolby Vision logo and it's a sharper image (Less noise).
mmm, I guess you didn't read my post about the Dune FEL ISO playback comparisons @manix and I did.
The Dune does not support FEL at all and likely never will. yes, it can play the file, but it's using only the RPU metadata.

the Chinoppo won’t do DV on those test files - has to be a dual layer m2ts or iso.
what? the test file is dual-layer DV mp4 which the oppo support.

Pretty sure it doesnt in mp4 which is why that photo from the Chinoppo isn’t showing the FEL noise, but I don’t have anyone and can’t 100% remember.

yes, they are lying.
see here https://slow.pics/c/nCcd2BlK
this is Dune FEL dual-layer p7 VS Dune single-layer P8 (rpu only) VS Sony x700 FEL dual layer p7 VS HDR10 bluray remux.

As you can see there's no difference between p8 and p7 on the Dune player and the x700 shows what FEL can bring.

about your comparison: The FEL sample file is supposed to be noisy when FEL is processed, that's the whole point of the file. The dune is clean because it's not using the FEL.

and yes, your TV can do FEL if the external player can do FEL. No matter the settings you use, you'll never get FEL out of the Dune.

Well, I'm seeing noise on the oppo picture compared to the dune picture.
I don't see why the oppo wouldn't support dual layer DV in an MP4 container... for DV, its not different than a TS or M2TS container
I don't have one, so maybe someone that owns one can confirm.

thanks for your answer :)
I'll have to keep both external players then. Chinoppo only for FEL titles.

And if i want Play one MKV DV FEL? exist any external player? Dune I imagine not. only MEL.

The Chromecast apparently can do FEL but doesn't support lossless audio. I'm waiting for @manix to capture the total recall scene and compare it with the x700.

There's also the Ugoos AM6 ( I think) that is very interesting because it looks like it supports FEL and lossless audio.

And what does Chromecast or Ugoos, what does not have Dune for FEL to work? For the same reason, don't you think Dune adds support through FW? i hope so if Another streaming devices apparently have FEL support now...

I have no idea, it's very surprising that not 1 but 2 streaming devices can do FEL...
But can they really do it properly? that's why I want @manix to capture the Total Recall scene with his Atomos Shogun.

well, nothing is impossible I guess but IMO it's unlikely.
we also want to compare another sample because, while testing more scenes in Total recall, we noticed that the Dune's colors are slightly washed out in DV compared to the x700 DV and even compared to the bluray remux HDR10

Did anyone with a dune try kodi dv build ?regular xbmc does hdr fine on the dune.
Tested aquaman el test works on dune
Used tsmuxer on the mp4 I see the errors and lum shift only in iso mode to lite but has to be iso
According to the test file the dune is processing the el

As someone mentioned already, if you look at the S922X spec sheet (AM6 Plus SoC is S922X-J) on page 12:
  • Amlogic Video Engine (AVE) with dedicated hardware decoders and encoders
  • Support multi-video decoder up to 4Kx2K@60fps+1x1080P@60fps
  • Supports multiple “secured” video decoding sessions and simultaneous decoding and encoding
Similarly, the S905D3 spec sheet (Chromecast with Google TV's SoC) on page 11:
    • Amlogic Video Engine (AVE) with dedicated hardware decoders and encoders
    • Support multi-video decoder up to 4x1080P@60fps
    • Supports multiple “secured” video decoding sessions and simultaneous decoding and encoding
So, they are both hardware-capable of decoding 1x2160p@23.976fps + 1x1080p@23.976fps simultaneously, which is BL+FEL @23.976fps (majority of DV UHD releases). In theory, the AM6Plus could handle BL+FEL @60fps while the Chromecast with Google TV could not, although no 60FPS DV FEL UHD has been released to date to test this (Gemini Man is 2160p@60fps MEL).

The key thing enabling proper FEL decode on these SoCs seems to be the AVE-10 hardware decoder:
Amlogic Video Engine(AVE-10) off-loads the Cortex CPUs from all video CODEC processing. It includes dedicated hardware video decoder and encoder.
    Perhaps this explains why the RTD1619DR (Dune Pro/Max Vision 4K and Zidoo Z9X/UHD3000/Z10 PRO/Z1000 PRO) is not capable of decoding FEL, despite having a very similar CPU/GPU (6xARM Cortex-A55 + ARM Mali-G51 MP3) to the S905D3 (4xARM Cortex-A55 + ARM Mali-G31 MP2) and S922X-J (4xARM Cortex-A73+2xARM Cortex-A53 + ARM Mali-G52 MP6).

With Ugoos AM6 plus/Kodi Matrix DV edition (thanks @Fandangos and @quietvoid) Saving Private Ryan (MKV DV) no flicKering like the m2ts on Sony X700.
This is the first time that a device (except Sony X700) does not flickers on this film.
I tried Firestick 4K, Shield 2019 and Google Chromecast with Google TV.
In Ugoos (latest firmware 0.40) also HD audio (True HD Atmos and DTS X) works in passtrough in Kodi.
    My soundbar confirms.
