Re: Which firmware to flash?
Please don't listen to the wrong advise that has been provided. The recommended firmware for your Archgon is DE_LG_BU40N_1.00. I should know, I've sold a lot of these units.sacolton wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 8:25 amHello.

Re: Which firmware to flash?
I guess I will use this DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin file that I found in the DE firmware pack. (I'm assuming DE doesn't mean German language.) Billycar's guide that everyone links says to use 1.03MK on the BU40N, and then he's got a link to "the all you need firmware pack" which contains a file called "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin".MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 5:32 amThe recommended firmware for your Archgon is DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.
Can you just confirm which is really the best version, and why the discrepancy? Thanks.

Re: Which firmware to flash?
the reason i have that as the recommended is 1.03mk will work in 1 step no matter what firmware your dive currently has.grandpixel wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 9:29 pm

1.00 de if you have 1.03 or higher is at least a 2 steps to get to 1.00de and in the future it may be more.
it just makes things simpler and less chance of flashing the wrong firmware.

Re: Which firmware to flash?
BU40N 1.00 is still the best firmware for your drive. It is also compatbile with a much wider range of software compared to the MK versions, so the way I see it is this:grandpixel wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 9:29 pmI guess I will use this DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin file that I found in the DE firmware pack. 1. If you have a BU40N that comes with a firmware version less than 1.03, flash BU40N 1.00 and be done with it.
2. If you have a B40N that comes with firmware 1.03 or above:
- Flash 1.03-MK and leave it if you only use MakeMKV to rip your discs.
- If you use other ripping software, such as DVDFab, then flash your drive again to BU40N 1.00 as this firmware is compatible with other ripping software.
Cheers

Re: Which firmware to flash?
Okay, thank you both for the explanation. My Archgon came with 1.01 and I just went with 1.00, figured that would be a good starting point. Thanks for the confirmation.
