I'm assuming this is for the regular Blu-ray and not 4K disc?
Re: Ghost in the Shell (1995) (US)
I'm just now ripping my discs. I see there's two options -- which did you choose?

Haven't actually done my back-up yet, just checked in to see if it would decrypt. Compare the language and sub tracks, a lot of times certain languages are relegated to a different playlist. If it all looks like the same, compare the segment maps for each playlist. If it's the same map, there's no difference between the two.
Re: Ghost in the Shell (1995) (US)
I'm also having issues opening the UHD disk.
***EDIT***
3 hours later still trying to open the disc... I can not even get a dump file.

Thanks for not crucifying me. I realized my dumb question without checking what forum section I was on first.jayper wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 3:34 pmUHD.-Maverick- wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 2:57 amI'm assuming this is for the regular Blu-ray and not 4K disc?
I'm picking up my steelbook release from Best Buy tomorrow. I've never owned a HD/4K release of this movie, so I'm looking forward to the jump in quality from my SE DVD release.

Have you made sure the disc surface is clean? Even if it looks clean, you might want to use a microfiber cloth to wipe it down.
Re: Ghost in the Shell (1995) (US)
We've all made similar mistakes. No worries! The steelbook looks awesome, enjoy!-Maverick- wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:13 amThanks for not crucifying me. I got this title to rip. I saw some people asking with mpls to rip. My disk had mpls 800 and 801. I didn't do a very thorough review, but i noticed in 800 the subtitles at the beginning of the movie are on the bottom. For 801 the subtitles are at the top. When i put my disk in my UHD player the subs were at the bottom. So i'm going with 800.
Re: Ghost in the Shell (1995) (US)
Man, my ASUS BW-16D1HT really struggled with this disc for some reason. I have never heard my drive make such unhealthy-sounding noises before.
When decrypting the disc, the drive would constantly spin up, make some audible grinding noises, and then spin back down. It kept doing this repeatedly. And once the disc was fully decrypted, the drive spun up to such an excessively fast speed that I thought it was about to explode.
I initially tried ripping the 801 playlist. It failed immediately. I tried rebooting and ripping the 800 playlist instead, and this time it worked, but it was stuck ripping at a very slow speed (2X only). Ultimately I was able to rip the whole thing with no errors though.

Re: Ghost in the Shell (1995) (US)
Finally got this. Starting first with the Blu-ray disc from the US UHD set... I'm assuming the configuration will be the same with the (differently numbered) playlists on the UHD.
There are two main playlists, and the disc uses a different playlist (and gives you different subtitles) depending on if you select playback with English or Japanese audio... even though both playlists in MakeMKV allow you to get all of the different audio together.
When I rip just the English subtitles using MakeMKV 1.15.4, this is the result I get:
00916.mpls
1 - English Dub Subtitles
2 - English Dub Subtitles Forced
3 - English Dub SDH Subtitles
4 - English Dub SDH Subtitles Forced
00454.mpls
1 - Japanese Translation Subtitles
2 - Japanese Translation Subtitles Forced
3 - Japanese Translation SDH Subtitles
4 - Japanese Translation SDH Subtitles Forced
Using: ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.00
Re: Ghost in the Shell (1995) (US)
Quick question - it currently rips for me but has 3 separate UHD output tracks...is there anyway to tell which is which? the first one (title00) has a few subtitles on top, not sure what the mix is for the other two...
