Hi,
I have a LG WH16NS40 that has been refreshed to WH16NS60 revision 1.03.In MakeMKV it shows:
Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/rdisk5
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE WH16NS60
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: KLAKB6G2133
Firmware date: 2120-05-08 10:10
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 68
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
However, today I had my first glitch. This is not to do with MakeMKV which reads the disk just fine, but rather MacOS DVD player.
This is with the DVD of The Rocky Horror Picture show. Trying to play with DVDPlayer MacOS returns that "This disk is not formatted to play in this region". I have never had this before. I also have Blu-Ray Player Pro and that does read the disk is it is just a DVDPlayer issue.
Does anyone know how the DVD all regions in the WH16NS60 Rev 1.03 firmware represents the player's DVD region? Is it just set to region 0? Any any ideas on why DVDPlayer does not work with this?
This disk is not formatted to play in this region
Re: This disk is not formatted to play in this region
Only applications that know how to deal with LibreDrive will see the "all regions" part.
Mac DVD player isn't one of them - it talks to the "normal" interface.

Re: This disk is not formatted to play in this region
Okay, so the drive was originally a region 1 drive. Would the flashing then have changed that, so say region 2?
Is it possible to change the "normal" interface back to region 1?

Re: This disk is not formatted to play in this region
Why not just use MakeMKV to rip the thing and play the resulting .mkv file?
