I have a Sony ubp-x700 player. Can someone explain how I can use that to play DV MT2S files? Do I have to copy them to USB or can I access files on my NAS? Cheers.

If I don't care about per-pixel-perfection, outside of very obvious negative artifacts - would converting to profile 8 be best for broadest device playback compatibility vs keeping profile 7?

-Hello:

Could you provide me with the links to the latest version of
-python
-mp4muxer
and the one that brings everything incorporated including FFmpeg (The version that a user made that brings everything together).

Thanks a lot.
Please, I can't find the last x32 and 64 Bits (python)!
Give me a hand

-Greetings to Crodiales. :|

I'm skeptical. Even if it's capable of playing FEL, I suspect that it's just ignoring the EL like what the Shield is doing. I highly doubt that the Chromecast has the dual decoders needed to properly playback FEL.

I understand.

I have written in the forum, asking you to use the samples that were uploaded here to check if a device is removing the FEL "layer".

Let's see if in the meantime, someone has more information.

Hi all, I have made the test with the new Chromecast with Google TV (CCWGTV)
Test platform:
  • TV OLED Panasonic TX-65HZ1000
  • Emby/Plex beta MediaServer on Windows 10 Pro 64 bits
  • Chromecast with Google TV (2020)
The results:
  • test DT DL FEL: playback as HDR10 (CCWGTV can't play dual track DV)
  • test SL p8 RPU: playback as HDR10 (without noise)
  • test ST DL FEL: playback as DV with noise during 5 seconds
test ST DL FEL

test SL p8 RPU

https://ibb.co/rbCXb8V

Latest Emby beta can't play the file as DV it plays as HDR10, but I can do it with latest Plex beta, but only during 5 seconds, rendering the noise of the FEL layer as the picture shows .
After this 5 seconds Plex stops the playback and shows an error saying something like there isn't enought power to decode the file. I receive this error when Plex can't play a file without transcoding because I disable transcoding in Plex, but it never has ben shown in the middle of a playback, it always show before rendering.

Well, after the last firmware update on february this little device never ceases to amaze me.

Also I can play with latest Plex beta FEL files of 90Mb/s without issues.

So, after these results, can we say that this device fully supports FEL media?

Is there a trick to enabling HDR10 base layer on a DV P8.1 file? When I make one, the DV metadata/part is enabled/plays fine, but when I disable DV, the HDR10 base layer is there (obvious, I muxed it in) but it's not playing in HDR10 - there are no highlights at all. Everything is muted like 10-bit color data is there, but highlight/brightness part metadata removed. Mediainfo shows DV P8-1 with HDR10 BL/HDR10 compatibility though.

'mp4muxer --dv-profile 8 --dv-bl-compatible-id 1 --input-file Video.hevc --input-file Audio.aac --media-lang eng --output-file FILENAME.mp4'

'--dv-bl-compatible-id 1' - is for the HDR10 BL, '--dv-bl-compatible-id 2' would be for an SDR layer, am I missing some more mux commands I needed?

So.. i started using .m2ts container instead of .ts (via TSMuxer) and now PGS Subtitles are working just fine with MrMC :D

Wow, that is definitely a pleasant surprise. Are you saying that with the latest firmware update, you can still only play the first 5 seconds with Plex beta? Is it maybe trying to transcode because you selected one of the lossless audio tracks? Not supporting lossless audio is still a bit of a deal breaker for me, but it definitely shows promise for future devices.

indeed, very surprising to see a streaming device supporting FEL.
Now I wonder which Chromecast Manix tested a while ago because the colors were slightly more saturated (no red spot and better than the shield though). Unfortunately, Manix vanished since he told me that he received his Dune UHD a week ago. :(

we do not know if the tests were done with the last generation of Chromecast?

probably not the latest generation indeed... I wish @Manix(the guy with the Atomos shogun device) could confirm but he won't respond to me anymore, he's gone (probably personal issues) ...
