Lipsync and dropout problems

Hi all, first post here, hoping someone can help.

I've been using MakeMKV to rip some old DVDs I own (a couple of TV series) and have had problems recently.

The ripped files drop out for the first couple of seconds every time I attempt playback - black screen (though the audio continues to play). This happens with every file.

Also, the lipsync is out every time - it's pretty consistent, the audio is ahead of the picture by a couple of frames every time.

I'm using Kodi on an Nvidia shield, but the same happens if I use VLC.

Did MakeMKV list any errors or messages while you were ripping the discs?
