So an oled CX owner on avsforum just confirmed with me that the tv's internal media player couldn't play this DV DL test file properly: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NK71Ck ... XLXEa/view

On my C9 it looked fine and played fine. Seems like LG did remove the ability to play dual layer dolby vision file from the CX (and probably upcoming oled tvs as well). That sucks.
As of the recent update CX can play P7 Dual Layer mp4s. But MEL only.
The 07.06 file you linked to is Dual Track, not Dual Layer.

Sorry could you explain what is the difference between dual track vs dual layer? And what do you mean by MEL only?

Is it me or there is some noticable improvement with 8.2.2 update?
Can't spot red blocking while playing mkv via plex.
DV triggered

Maybe I just missed this very frame.

Meanwhile Dr Sleep still has noticable red push
I’ll take a look later this morning.

To throw in a little detail to the mix. CX can play Dual Track DV MP4 files, but the file has to have been made using mp4muxer v1.0.0. The latest version of mp4muxer, v1.0.1, does something with file that it isn't played by the tv anymore. I checked the code changes, and it may be the change where they introduce the Alternate Group flag. With v1.0.1 this is set to 1 for both the BL and the EL+RPU tracks, previously this was 0. The BL track is also set as the "default". It may be that this is either wrong for DV files from a MP4 spec point of view, or, the TV has a bug requiring the group to be 0. It is still required to be MEL.

Erm yes I think I had things the wrong way around. Unfortunately my hard drive broke yesterday so I can't check all my test files. Just ignore me!

Waiting for @Manixx2020beyound but as far I can tell, it's not fixed nor improved: https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/10385

As for MI, I didn't compare it with my x700 but I still can see the red spot.
It can be hard to see in motion, but if you pause at a couple of places, you can see it.

The issue with the mp4muxer version also exists, btw, with the previous generation of LG oleds. You either have to use v1.0.0 or make changes yourself to v1.0.1. No restrictions on MEL or FEL, however. Really does seem like LG might’ve taken out the second decoder.

Could someone point me to the tools I need to make a BL+RPU (not BL+EL+RPU) from a FEL UHD file? I think I need the resultant file in profile 8.1. Thanks!

Is there a way to know which one is what version?

If you use MediaInfo you can see what is called "Alternate Group", I think it was, set to 1 for both the BL and EL+RPU tracks for a file created with mp4muxer v1.0.1. The BL track is also set to "Default: yes".

This information is as I remember not visible with MediaInfo for a file created using mp4muxer v1.0.0.

Is the x700 able to play dolby vision m2ts file directly? Thinking of investing in a bluray player instead of relying on the oled's internal player.
