Did you start the other command window first, and you have that running?
Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
HDR10 should look right, the sky is very smooth
SL 05.06 should look wrong, too dark and the light sky is pumping.
DL 07.06 should look right, no pumping and very fine grain
On CX9LA internal player SL+DL is the same, because the internal player ignores EL.
Do you use Plex on your TCL TV internal ?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yes I use the plex app on the TCL TV. The mp4 works great. But when it comes to my friends DV MKV file. DV won't trigger. What I'd like to do is change the container to DV MP4. But I'm very new to this and don't know the steps to get to it. If its even possible to get to it.agneva wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 7:04 amHDR10 should look right, the sky is very smooth

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks for the sample files. I played them on my CX with internal player and HDR picture looked so much brighter, but DV (both profile 5 and 7) looked darker but the overall picture felt a bit sharper (and more detailed ) compared to HDR. Do you think only the internal player ignores EL? I tried with plex, but didn't find any difference between internal player and plex.agneva wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 7:04 amHDR10 should look right, the sky is very smooth

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is that an issue?
EDIT: I just played all 3 of your test files on my C9 (not CX). The DV SL file looks wrong with some kind of duplicated images overlaying each other. The DV DL file and the HDR10 file, however, play fine and look right. So there's sth wrong with the internal player of the CX since you said the DV DL and DV SL file look the same on your CX? That's surprising considering the CX is the newer model compared to the C9. I also heard someone say that was fixed in the latest firmware?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Of course there is an issue.
If you see the white sky is pumping / picture is to dark, the (F)EL is not decoded !
in my opinion the CX can only decode the Metadata (RPU) of DV, not the second HEVC stream.
maybe the older LG TV can do, I don´t know... to find out, I uploaded the samples for you.

MEL files look ok
FEL files look ultra dark.
I had a C7 before the CX and FEL files looked fine on the C7.
CX did not play DV (DTDL) mp4 prior to lastest firmware.Manixx2020beyound wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 6:18 pm5ED00217-56EF-4440-B746-9591A31684D2.jpeg
CX plays fel fine in usb mp4 dl dv.
Firmware#
Tlc 6 series plays dv fel as well usb.
They do play NOW but as @Agneva pointed out, FEL files on CX look bad, too dark, as if EL was ignored alltogether.
That would explain the lack of support at launch.
Who knows maybe, the CX only has 1 decoder instead of the 2 required, would not surprise me, manufacturers undercut sucessfull product lines for profit all the time.
Have seen this happen a lot, a product gets fame for its quality and then next versions are cutdown for profit with inferior materials or features.
Maybe LG thougth no one would notice since streaming is MEL and that would really suck, i dont see much difference beetween DV MEL vs plain HDR + dynamic tonemaping or HDR10+, DV was about FEL.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Could very well be the case. Although I will say that the initial support for DTDL DV in mp4s on a smart tv has always been a bit odd. It could've just been a lucky coincidence with the early implementation of DV. Since FEL content is only found on bluray disks, TVs honestly have no need to have two decoders available for DV.Wanderlust3K wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 10:24 pmWho knows maybe, the CX only has 1 decoder instead of the 2 required, would not surprise me, manufacturers undercut sucessfull product lines for profit all the time.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So I just compared the info of your DV SL file and a DV SL file I downloaded online. The difference is yours is Main10@5.1 while the other file is Main10@5.2. Your DV SL file looks wrong on my c9 but the other file looks correct. Does this mean anything?agneva wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 2:37 pmOf course there is an issue.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Not sure exactly what the Main10 part means, but an obvious explanation for the difference you see in those two files you're comparing is that one is a from a native profile 5 source and the other is converted from a profile 7 disk. Given that there is no colorspace transformation during the conversion, it's not surprising that the resulting "profile 5" video might look wrong.deadchip12 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 4:51 amSo I just compared the info of your DV SL file and a DV SL file I downloaded online. SL is there to make a difference to DL version visible.
L5.1 is correct, like every Bluray.
