Hi all,
first let me say that MakeMKV is a great product and I absolutely intend to buy, once it leaves beta state. Thanks for all the hard work.
I successfully ripped a couple of BDs - which I legally own - with a USB drive that has got "Salcar ECD308" written on it and identifies as "DVDWBD SN-406AB". Today I wanted to convert the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition DVDs so I can watch them on mobile devices. Plain old DVDs and I thought that CSS was not even considered an effective copy protection anymore. To my big surprise the drive was not able to read them.
I got an old Apple USB "Superdrive" (DVD only) from the drawer, which could read the disks just fine.
Now I wonder: what could be the cause of this and is there a general recommendation for a particular BD drive for best results with DVD and BD? Should I check the devices in the LibreDrive section?
Kind regards and a happy new year to everyone,
Patrick
