I am also having problems with the 4K copy of Tenet which I purchased from Best Buy. In my situation, MKV was creating the MKV file but it stopped at 26,312,704K and the whole PC froze. I had to shutdown the PC and then do a reboot in order to get back up and running. Like may others here, I have been copying a few thousand regular blu-rays and 4K UHD discs to MKV and storing them on my NAS to watch. I have been having more problems copying the 4K movie discs which have been released in the last few months.

All you guys sending dumps....thanks! Got it ripped and copying up to the NAS. I'll be watching this one tonight for sure.
Not sure if that was the fix as I still can't open the disk. :(

I'm sure there are many different keys for this particular title. I've seen a few variations on another forum already. Hopefully they'll all get supported soon.

If I make a backup (encrypted) of the disc, can I unlock it and make an MKV later once the key is uploaded?

Newb question, I've just never actually used the backup function before.

Yup. That's exactly what that option is for. Make an encrypted folder backup, then when the key is available, just open the folder backup and you're good to go to make an MKV.

Thanks SamuriHL!

So I'd go to Open Files>Backup>Tenet>BDMV>Movieobject.bdmv?

Just not sure what to select once I open up the movie folder.

Right, once you open the backup folder, it'll take you to the same selection screen as if you opened the disc directly. At that point you can select what you want in your MKV just like you do off the disc.

hey all,

I sent my dump on Tuesday morning to the email address, but not sure if what i sent was correct. I sent: MKB20_v76_Tenet_3D88.tgz to the svq@ email address. (It's a UK disc)

I can see others in the thread have now opened their discs

The mkv app never shows if it's actually downloaded the latest keys (despite internet on in settings and whitelisted firewall to the url - nslookup/ping works fine). I tried manually downloading the sdf.bin to .MakeMKV folder, but no change when trying to open.

am i just being impatient? dying to watch this film. :D

MakeMKV v1.15.4 win(x64-release) started
Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as C:\Users\name/MakeMKV_log.txt
Opening files on harddrive at F:/DVDs/backup/TENET (ALSO Tried Direct from disc)
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
Saved AACS dump file as F:/DVDs//MKB20_v76_Tenet_3D88.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
DEBUG: Code 0 at \hDnJ)j9w B>P Qk:29396069
Failed to open disc

For read errors make sure you microfiber clean the disc even if it "looks" clean. And if you're still getting read errors after that you can try to use speed control and slow down the drive to 2x.

where can you actually also change the drive speed in MakeMKV to improve the reading of problematic discs? Such as e.g. at Any.

Danke

Right, exactly as above. Set it to 0=8 or U3=8 on any particular drive using the registry key. Remember to go into the settings dialog first (you do not have to change anything there, just open it) and then click ok to close it to ensure all registry values are created for your drives. Then you can set them accordingly using regedit.

I set mine to 0=8 and the read just halted about a third of the way through. When set to "" (which was the default), I'm able to get 2/3 of the way through the disc. I've now set it to 0=99 to see what happens. Fingers crossed.
