absolutely there is. please, share. i assume it works only under Windows, right?

For anyone that might find my MPLS finder tool useful, a link to download it is here with the basic instructions on how to use it..

I completed your procedure and came back with relatively the same result... \80000000000000040150000000000002\00286.mpls

How did you know it was not the 00286.mpls file that the result listed... and that it was actually the 0721.mpls file? I know you said you used a tool to compare... but what made you realize you were getting an incorrect outcome? Also, you don't mention needing a tool in your video.

And since I don't have the compare tool - is there a manual why to compare and find the true .mpls file?

It wasn't my video, it was by general1, I just created my own tool specifically for this task. I pasted in the FULL path for the \80000000000000040150000000000002\00286.mpls into my tool and it searched the bluRay BDMV/PLAYLIST folder for the real one that matched. It's that simple. I suppose you could use the built in windows FC at the command prompt to manually compare each file until you find the one that matches but it would be more time consuming than point-click-paste, browse-click using my tool or the one general1 was talking about.

MKV Won't load title 721. It keeps skipping it and using the *NOFILTER* rule didn't help.
Title 00721.mpls is equal to title 00229.mpls and was skipped
Is there any way to keep it from filtering these out? I'm using the latest version of MKV 1.9.8

Does anyone have a list of correct chapter times, or the mpls info for the Canadian bilingual retail release? Apparently this disc is not the same as the US releases. Between the crap bitrate due to jamming extras and the obfuscation... I almost want to give up and just return it as the POS that it is. Any help appreciated.

Obfuscation is not done on chapter boundaries. Doing obfuscation will not affect the bitrate as there are not extra segments because of it. At most there might be a 2 minute piece that informs you that this is a ripped copy. If it is a 50GB disc, you should not be having crappy bitrates.

The reason I ask about the chapter times is because the segment and playlist numbers are different on Canadian disc than US disc. So unless someone can provide the Canadian-specific info, that was the only way I could think to get started to find the right one - to look at the chapter times, as they are different between all the playlists.

It is a physical disc that I purchased from Amazon.ca.

Unfortunately I have no use for software like PowerDVD, I don't wish to purchase it just so I can use the methods described to determine the right playlist.

And yes, the bitrate on this movie is crappy, and it was kind of a side comment, as I do realize the obfuscation itself doesn't affect the movie's bitrate - the movie is only given ~ 22 gigs total size, because this disc is crammed with bonus features all on the same disc as the movie, rather than putting them onto a second disc.

The disc I'm dealing with comes in UPC 774212005848.

If you are a M$ computer, get the free program called BDEdit. With it you can look at all of the playlists and you'll see the segment order and how long each segment is. When I was dealing with that movie, the chapter times were the same, no matter the playlist. Early on in the movie, if I jumped to the next chapter, I actully ended up missing a couple of the swapped segments.

The program will not look at an encrypted disc, so you will either have to have a decrypted copy or run a program like AnyDVD, or DVDFab Passkey, so that it will be decrypted on the fly.

The movie insurgant was used in my videos but blanked out due to copywrite. This is the canada disk. Hope this answers your questions. As for mpls finder by rotty dog this requires you pm him the fingerprint code to unlock. We are weary on letting anyone use this tool as it will find the correct mpls with 2 clicks. Segment elimation of mpls files can be done within the first 4 segments if you do not own powerdvd! No need to use bdedit. If you want to see my detailed screenpass thread google gereral1 screenpass. This tool will work under all versions of windows. No mac versions.

Fingerprint code?
No need to use bdedit.
Sure, if you have your program.

EDIT: Understand fingerprint code now.

Okay, can you post what the playlist number is then? That's what forums are for, and that's what people generally do in this forum - help other people.

I don't understand the point of saying that it's for Windows, and advertising how great it is, if no one can use it.

PS, I think you mean "wary" instead of "weary" ;)

But I don't understand, what are you wary about?

I'm late to the party. Girlfriend bought this movie (UPC 774212005848) and I'm closing in on the right mpls:

00229.mpls is wrong (two scenes are flipped at the 33 mins mark, rest seems ok)
Segments: 506,502,510,504,511,507,509,501,505,503,508

00366.mpls is wrong (similar issue)
Segments: 506,504,502,510,511,507,509,501,505,503,508

Trying 00034.mpls right now
Segments: 506,502,504,510,511,507,509,501,505,503,508

Ah, if you find the right one on this UPC I will be grateful! Thanks for contributing your findings!

I think I've finally identified the right mpls:

00258.mpls:
506,502,504,510,511,501,505,507,509,503,508

It took about 8 separate mpls dumps + identifying which segments were flipped around. Ripping it right now to confirm.

It seems 00258.mpls is indeed the right playlist.

Hmmmmmm... Even though we share the same UPC, my disc doesn't match this.

So I tried to find a playlist with the same segments, and I'm trying this playlist now:

00763.mpls:
506,502,504,510,511,501,505,507,509,503,508
16 chapters, 1:59:00
