Anyone having trouble with American Sniper. This is the first time I've had trouble ripping a BD with makemkv. When I play the .mkv, it's pixelated and rapidly fast forwards.
I just installed MakeMKV v1.9.5.

Were there any messages in the log from the rip about "no FUTs"? What your describe reads like an issue with BD+.

Yeah, it definitely looks like copy protection. (I'm making a copy of a movie I purchased to store on my NAS.) This is the first time I've had an overtly copy protection problem. (I've had problems before, but usually the next makemkv version has resolved it.)
The programs made the archive just fine. I'll check the logs for what you mentioned.

Reference material here:

Many BDs use BD+ to create "fix-up tables" to correct deliberate distortions in the video. When new ones are encountered, MakeMKV checks online (assuming you have online updates enabled) for how to deal with any BD+ irregularities it doesn't already know about. If a disk-specific SVQ file is found, it is downloaded and the corrections applied. If not, it reports the problem, and creates a file that can be sent to Mike for analysis, to create an SVQ.

I dont use mkvmake, but I use anyDVD to rip the movie, BDinfo to find the correct playlist and then use mkvmerge to make my movie and had no problems. For the rental the file was 00100. I dont know if this helps at all but I find this process super easy
