This disc uses newer version of AACS protection.

Hi there,

I have used the MakeMKV software for years and encountered my first error today. Upon trying to open a Blu-ray I was given the following message "This disc uses newer version of AACS protection." as well as a log that has many 'Scsi errors that say ' ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - AUTHENTICATION FAILURE'.

Is there anything I can do to for the Blu-ray to be decrypted so that I can copy it?

Thanks in advance.

Ooops, sorry.
I reinstalled MakeMKV and it worked this time for some reason. (:

Main thing to watch for is the version of MakeMKV you are using. There are circumstances that can happen during an install that will prevent the new version from replacing the old version, so you can end up running, say, 1.8.14 when you THINK you're running 1.9.1.

Turning on debug logging (see FAQ in my signature) makes sure there is at least a disk record of what was running if you have this happen again. And you should get a note on the entry screen reporting the highest AACS version your copy of MakeMKV has encountered, which you can check against the history page here to see if it's really new.

Sorry if I am being obtuse, but where is the history page? I am being told
Highest AACS version: 46
What do I need to compare that with?

Sorry, I am being obtuse. It is on the Download page. It says MakeMKV v1.9.2 has added support for AACS v52.
