Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive

Hard to tell from the log whether you're using OSX or Linux. Your destination path suggests OSX.

Both of them can decide to not let MakeMKV communicate directly with the drive some times, which means you are dependent upon the Bluray support built into the operating system. That's where you get the instant key exchange failures. If MakeMKV can talk directly, it would at least be able to identify the version of AACS it is dealing with. I have seen a few reports that say resetting the hardware (an actual power-down of the machine, or using the reset button if your machine has it) MAY clear the problem, but I have no direct experience with that on non-Windows machines.

Given that this disk just hit the streets 3/31, it does have the possibility of having a AACS version newer than 51, which is the latest that MakeMKV 1.9.1 supports. Does your computer dual-boot to Windows, so that you could try the rip there?

Woodstock, no problem ripping Interstellar, AACS v50. win7.

Late answering this, because I didn't have access to the disk, but yes, there are English, French, and Spanish subtitles on the DVD version, so they should also be on the BD.

No luck with this....just get the message "disk can't be open"

Any ideas what could be going wrong? It's not like this movie is new anymore. I am running version 1.10.2 on Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. This is the second movie that has failed me recently. Previous one was Terminator. I'm worried that my Blu-Ray drive is starting to go. I did just get another movie to rip in between tries of this one. The disc does not look damaged or dirty.

Is this an internal or external drive?

The error sequence is similar to what is seen when using a USB-powered drive and spinning it too fast for the available power. The drive resets, then tries to continue.

It's an internal drive. I will double check to make sure the power cable is securely inserted. I only saw it reach 4.2X and it's definitely been able to spin up faster than that previously.

Is there a means to cap the max drive speed? I didn't see anything in the settings.

No, there isn't a speed limit. It's one of the features being asked for, and Mike has mentioned it is on his list, but that was over a year ago.

Assuming this isn't a laptop, an internal drive should NOT have the power problem, in any case.

I'd start with cleaning the disk. Many disks look clean, but have "something" on them that interferes with the laser. I've seen this a lot on new DVDs and BDs, especially if you can see what looks like sucker marks on the plastic holders. The chemicals on the packaging seem to migrate to the disks, and you get read issues.
