Hello Guys ,

I have had error ripping with this software this is my first day using it. I tried the newest version and reading the forum I seen others having this problem so I tried using the previous version, but it is also not successful. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I attached the long log. (edit it will not let me attached anything "board attachment quoted has been reached") not sure what quota I reached since it's the only attachment I have used and its under a 1MB .

I also cant post it my message contains too many characters. I guess I will just post the short log.

Thanks for your help,

This is the drive saying it can't read the disk. Two different locations were called out as being unreadable, two files weren't saved because of it.

There are some things that can cause version 1.8.10 to not be able to read a disk, but these are physical flaws that your drive could not overcome. First step would be to clean the disk. Personally, I do that with Pledge furniture polish and a soft cloth, because it also fills in small scratches that may be too small to see.

I think I read your post about that before I definitely checked for dirt and the disk were flawless, both of them. These errors happened on two different movies as well which is weird. The burner is only about 2 weeks old and it was my first time ripping with it. I have no issues burning with it and it passes all the tests nero does surface scan and verifications after. I was quite surprised how stable burning was with it is. Normally burning dvds (diff burner) I would a few coasters here and there but I burned about 30 Blurays of stuff on my computer to backup and all were perfect. I guess I will try some others and see how that goes. I noticed one disk took over 2.5 hours to rip seems a little long, but I don't know how long it should take.

Ripping speed is affected by so many things it is hard to guess, really. I can have BDs that rip at over 8x speed, but drop to under 2x if the target drive is also being used as the source of a copy operation. Copy operation stops, speed starts climbing again. Strangely, having multiple write streams to the same network device doesn't slow things as much as the mixing of read and writes. Maybe not so strange, because the reads are generally faster, so the head needs to move around a lot more.

One thing you can try is increasing the retry count in MakeMKV. The default is 5; for some disks, going to 10 or 20 will make things work. This is on the Preferences IO page. There is also a setting for Read buffer size that is normally set to "Auto". SOMETIMES (not often) changing that to a fixed size can help.

I've had disks that are unreadable in one drive, but work just fine in another, which is why I have 3 BD and 5 DVD drives available to use. Alignment of the read head varies slightly from drive to drive, and sometimes it is enough to make a flaw invisible to the read head.

Thanks for all the info, I will try moving my retry count to something higher and maybe get another drive if I can't figure it out.
