Bluray Conversion

I just purchased my first internal BDR and am using your program to make backups of my Bluray discs.

I see that when you click "open disc" it is supposed to give you a list of choices as to what to include in backup.

I would like to include the main menu and main movie only, but that choice is not given.

I also tried it on on a DVD - same result.

Also, do I choose "Backup" which gave me Stream or Makemkv to eventually burn to dissc?

Thanks,

Paul

Obviously cause it's called MakeMKV and menus in MKVs are practically non-existent.

Is there another program you would recommend?

Nope cause I have absolutely no use for menus whatsoever.

Thanks for your non-advice.

Just because you have no interest in menus, doesn't preclude others from wanting them.

It OBVIOUSLY precludes me from being able to give advice on what software to use, don't you think?

If you WANT the menus, you don't save as MKV files, you do a "Backup". That will copy everything to your hard drive, including the menus, and give you the option to decrypt the files at the same time. There are no "selections" involved - it's just "backup", it does everything on the disk, and it's BD-only.

Hi Woodstock.

Thanks for replying.

I used the backup method, and it gives all the extras, but they are in "numbered files" only.

Is there no way to actually see the Menu that lists all the extras, setup, etc?

Thanks,

Paul

As far as I'm aware VLC isn't currently set up to play back Blu Ray menus. You could try this:

http://www.videolan.org/developers/libaacs.html

No guarantees it will work though.

AACS is encryption, and has nothing to do with menus.

VLC has limited BD menu support (many Java-based menus still don't work, IIRC).

Ah, sorry, it's been so long since I tried getting VLC to play blu ray that I'd forgotten most of the details. I did vaguely remember menu's not working but I thought they might have done something about that by now. After doing more research I've realised my advice was doubly bad, since the latest MakeMKV can double for the libraries I linked to!
