Did you click on the link, to let Mike know about the new AACS ? It gives him information necessary to work around the revocation of access keys.

Once a disk is inserted into a drive that revokes the access key that MakeMKV uses, that drive will no longer allow BDs to be ripped, until the MakeMKV is updated with a new key.... even ones it ripped before. The new AACS updates the drive's firmware, and it won't play nice with MakeMKV.

At this point, there will have to be an updated version of MakeMKV, with a new AACS access key, released to "fix" your drive. It's simply going to refuse to talk to MakeMKV for ANY BDs until that happens. I don't think this is something that an SVQ file can fix.

So, now it falls to Mike to give an ETA on when that can happen.

Your drive cannot read the disk. Try cleaning the disk first. Waxing sometimes helps if scratches are the problem. Sometimes it requires that the disk be replaced, if it's an error in the duplication process.

And yes, it is possible for a disk to "play" "properly" in a stand-alone player but fail to rip, because they're programmed to skip over bad spots without telling you...

I have the same problem with 1.8.6 and 1.8.7. Also a disc that use to work with 1.8.5 no longer works anymore when I downgrade to 1.8.5. According to the error message this makes sense.
I put in an AACS v43 disk at some point which probably revoked the key makemkv was using. I was hoping after seeing the changelog for 1.8.6 (updated to AACS v44) it would fix the problem, but didn't. Then 1.8.7 came out (updated to AACS v46) and it still doesn't work. I believe the Linux build is still using an older key since 1.8.6 works in Windows. I need to test 1.8.5 in Windows to get a final conclusion.

So, I tried 1.8.4 and 1.8.5 in Windows and they both work. When I reboot back into Linux after using Windows it doesn't work again in Linux. Something weird is going on. There is definitely a difference in the Linux build vs the Windows build. I ripped a ton of discs using 1.8.5 in Linux before this problem occurred. I don't know why downgrading doesn't fix the problem because the Windows version is able to exchange keys with the drive fine even using older versions.

I had the same trouble with Fedora 19. I was unable to open any disc. But when I moved the usb driver to pc with ubuntu 13.10 I was able to open the bluray disc with makemkv linux. Which kernel version did you use? Did you use Fedora? please look at this bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1042715.
