Home Alone (1990) Blu-Ray Error

I'm trying to rip the Blu-Ray copy of Home Alone, with BD+ encryption (the Blu-Ray was released in December 2010 so it's a 3 year old version of BD+). Everything goes smoothly, the chapters load in and the rip starts. Once the rip has been going for around 15 minutes, I get a dialog box saying that it failed. The disc is brand new and there are no scratches. The log shows a "Medium Error". Any ideas what could be causing this? I tried a Blu-Ray with AACS (the movie was Elf) and it worked fine. Thanks.

A log would be helpful, but "Medium errors" generally are the drive cannot read part of the disk. Sometimes, raising the default number of retries will help, as will cleaning the disk, but sometimes the disks are not mastered well, and have problem.

Since ripping is trying to get an exact copy of the data, such errors aren't tolerated. A BD player will typically skip over errors, and you'll see a momentary glitch, but things continue on.
