Cannot open Blu Rays

Post by classicj »

Been having no luck getting makemkv to open any Blu Rays on my machine. Ive been able to rip dvds okay though. I thought it was the drive at first but im able to rip blu ray from other programs like DVDFab. Makemkv will not open any blu ray new or old. Disk are clean, practically new.

Drive im using is like generic BD-ROM from Amazon.
Manufacturer is BLU RAY (as stated from Amazon). But when you open up in MakeMKV it says its HP.

Been getting this error every time i open BD.

You stripped out the portion of the log that said what version of MakeMKV you are running. If it isn't at least 1.7.9 (1.8.2 is current), you will get those errors if you recently inserted a BD with the latest AACS on it. The drive will refuse to talk to prior versions of MakeMKV, because the keys from earlier versions were revoked.

Sorry bout that. Im running the latest version.

Here's the first few lines -

MakeMKV v1.8.2 darwin(x86-release) started
Automatic checking for updates is enabled, you may disable it in preferences if you don't want MakeMKV to contact web server.
Optical drive "BD-ROM hp BDDVDRW CT10L YC09" opened in DASPI v1.3 mode.
Using direct disc access mode
Evaluation version, 25 day(s) out of 30 remaining

What is the "latest AACS version" shown on MakeMKV main screen? Please try the latest version, 1.8.3 - it has update for v40.

Tried the v1.8.3 and same results still wont open the BD.

Under drive information - latest AACS version is 30. But Ive tried ripping movies with AACS v3 (Last Samurai) and same result.

Could it be the drive Im using? Seems like everyone can at least "open" 1 movie. Im 0 for 20 right now with about 80 movies to go.

This is certainly an error with your drive. Is it a regular drive (not pulled from the hardware player)? Were you able to use any other software to play/copy blu-rays with this drive?
