BBC Blurays

Hello all.

I've come across a problem in the backing up of all my blurays. The way I do it is to rip it to my computer using MakeMKV then cut it down to a more manageable size using Handbrake. This works for almost ALL my blurays.

Except BBC blurays. Namely Doctor Who, Planet Earth and Life.

When I rip these using MakeMKV they come out really jerky and stuttery and are unwatchable. Has anyone come across the issue and if so, do you have a fix?

The fix is to use software that can decode VC-1 video with interlaced compression (i.e. using the Microsoft VC-1 decoder), or wait until libavcodec completes support for interlaced compression in their VC-1 decoder.

Ah ha. So what you're saying is that it's the software/codecs I'm using on my PC and not the actual file?

Well, Handbrake doesn't handle interlaced VC-1. There is nothing wrong with the file, it's just something that requires different software to transcode.
