Last night, I did a second try with 1.7.3. I powercycled the blu-ray drive, and ensured that makemkvcon was killed, before: powering up the drive, restarting MakeMKV, and inserting the disc. (I'm not entirely convinced that the order has any bearing, but that's what I do to try to be sure MakeMKV gets full access to the drive before OSX can do anything weird)
Previous tests were done with 1.7.3. I discovered a 500mb log file this morning, along with a notice that MakeMKV was crashing and terminating. How can I send you a 500mb giant logfile?** I also used Activity Monitor to take a process sample, taken during the bog-down, (last night before the crash). Let me know if you still want those files, and/or the logfile from this current rip with 1.7.4.
This morning, I am getting the same DBG messages with 1.7.4 now, but it is getting farther into the rip before changing the error messages to:
DEBUG: Code 1269 at Tj*%dI&b88P/HY9z)Iayk:121261796

....
and then bogging down; halfway through the rip rather than 1/10 though. Progress! But it took 25 minutes to get halfway through, and now the estimate to complete is just climbing... now past 3 hours. I'm pretty sure this is another failed rip. Interestingly, the "output size" is still growing, and the rip speed showing 0.8x, but the progress bars are not moving, and the time to complete is just growing growing growing...
PS: The disc is about as clean as a disc gets. No visible errors, and only extremely minor dust/scratches. It's all but clean-room clean. I rubbed it on my shirt to at least move around any noseeum dust bits. I'll probably return this disc for another one, to see if it is just a bad disc.
** I can probably set up a temporary web/ftp/file server here, so you can download the data. If I can figure out how to password protect such a thing, I'll send you access instructions.
PPS: Epic fail!

Report bars haven't moved in a half-hour. I need to reboot the POS CRAPple now.
