Newbie here. My brand new Buffalo blu-ray drive has a problem with every disk I have tried so far. Below are some images from MakeMKV and one from VLC.
Maybe I need Libredrive bt I thought BluRays did not need Libredrive. VLC says I need a library for AACS but I do not know where to find that.

Most likely a power issue. If the enclosure has 2 USB plug make sure you have both of them connected. Also best to use ports direct from the motherboard or an AC self-powered USB hub of at least 30w.
MakeMKV can be used as the on-the-fly decrypter if you integrate VLC with it in preferences. Also, is libredrive enabled? If not, you need to flash the drive to BU40N 1.03-MK firmware.

Thanks for the tip. I noticed there was a power cable in the box so I am now using it and it works much better now. Since I am not ripping any 4K disks (at this time) I figured I did not need Libredrive enabled.

Libredrive is not only for UHDs. If you don't want that your drive certification gets updated by a BD to e.g. MKB 82 you should make your drive Libredrive enabled.

Below is a screen shot of my drive specs. I already downloaded the All You Need Firmware and a folder called SDF Tool Flasher.
I am not sure what bin file should be used for this Buffalo drive.

This is a slim drive, right? Then use LG BU40N 1.03. If you are using also DVDFab use 1.00.
