Bluray disk shows no disk inserted

I just bought an external Blu-ray drive off Amazon. The name brand is Bunud. I can rip DVDs with no problem but blu-ray's are not recognized. It says no disk inserted. I've tried MakeMKV on Linux and Windows with no luck. Where is a good starting point to troubleshoot? Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Strange, searching for "Bunud" on Google finda a lot of references to "DVD/CD" drives, but only one to a bluray drive... which took me to a YouTube video explaining how the drive read BDs, but showing the box that says it only handles DVD and CD disks.

Are you CERTAIN the drive has BD capabilities? There should be two laser assemblies in it, if it does.

You know when I did a search I saw the same thing but didn't pay much attention to it because I was sure it was a bluray drive. I'm thinking it may be just DVD and CD now. I get the same message when I put a bluray into my internal DVD player. The box it came in says External Blu-Ray Drive.

It even says bluray on the front of the drive.

It does have two lasers so it must me bluray. I tried it in a new MacBook Air also and it didn't work.
