I have not as yet received my activation key. From what I can see, quite a number of people who have paid in the last few days have not received the key. I have called PayPro and they have not gotten communication from the vendor. Does anyone have any update? Thank you very much.

Like many ohers, I purchased a key late on Friday and have not received one from either PayPro or MakeMKV.

Others report having received a refund from either PayPro or PayPal, and I have just submitted a refund request to PayPro, who have suspended the MakeMKV account.

Call me pessimistic, but I wonder if Mike has decided to abandon this project. Clearly, he was not doing it for a living: he would not have had a free beta key for over 10 years, if he were depending on the license income. Also, whilst there is a record in this forum of Mike forgetting about a previous beta key expiry date, I find it very stange that Mike posted a couple of messages on Friday evening, saying that everything works as intended, and then "disappeared" just before the beta key expired.

The only users who seem untouched by this are those who already have a lifetime key.

I have interacted with "Mike" in the past, and he seemed on top of things. If he has abandoned this project it will be a real loss.

hmmm Have you ever heard of a bit of patience... and it seems quite common that this happens at this time....... Chances are its one person working on this... He is in the UK (because that is where PayPro is based, a guess mind you) and therfore chances are he is on holiday with his kids or some such thing.... Summer holidays just started here and that is exactly what my daughter did.

ps: quite a brilliant move on your part getting his account suspended! That means that I could loose the chance of a key because of your impatience. Nice!
The guy has given it free for 10 years.... surley waiting an extra few days would not
have hurt you.... :wink:

From my understanding, PayPro removed his account a few days ago when they were being flooded with complaints and no response. Don't think it's this one guys fault.

I've tried to even purchase but I receive an error...

Makemkv is so good and now it's not working anymore

Even though I have told PayPro that I am willing to wait a few days they were not willing to wait. They processed a refund. Looking at it from their point of view, they have received numerous complaints and no response back from the vendor. As a business, this is costing them time, energy and money. We certainly hope that Mike is OK and that this delay can be explained. If the delay is beyond his control I understand. If it is just a matter that he is on vacation, that is unacceptable. That leaves many customers and Paypro high and dry with no explanation. I will be happy to buy the product if I am assured that I will get an activation key. I think I am being reasonable.

No one knows the answers right now. What we do know is this -
MakeMKV is basically a 1-man operation run by someone named Mike.

MakeMKV is free in beta mode, and Mike updates the key usually monthly or bi-monthly, but for those who want to support the program and don't want to wait and change the beta key every month or so, he sells thru a 3rd party a permanent key for around 60 buck.

August 1 2025 the beta key was not updated - sometimes Mike is a few days late.

Some people bought permanent keys after July 31 2025. The 3rd party vendor lets Mike know - he sends out the permanent keys. BUT...

In August 2025, those keys were not sent. Apparently, the 3rd party vendor tried contacting Mike to send out those keys, and none were sent.

So the 3rd party vendor stopped selling the keys, and refunded those who purchased them without receiving them.

As of today, August 8 2025 - still no beta key, still no word from Mike.

We don't know what's wrong - is Mike sick, busy, had an accident, dead - no one knows. We all hope his is healthy and well.

So, in order to use the program, you need to back date your computer to before August 1 2025.

Then open the program - it should work - if not, it might either ask to upload the most current version or enter the beta key. Either way, click on register, put in the latest beta key, then restart the program and it will work.

A bit of a pain to change the date back and forth, but it works. And check back to this forum every few days to see if Mike checks in and tells us what's going on, or for new beta keys, and if they will start selling permanent keys again. Right now that's all we can do.

That's not quite how I understood it to work. As I understood things, PayPro Global had a stock of keys to give out when someone purchased a key. Mike did not send out the keys to buyers. When people would buy a key, they got the key from PayPro Global.

Where the confusion has set it in is when PayPro Global ran out of stock of keys, they kept selling MakeMKV but told buyers to contact MakeMKV support to get a key, which is not how it was expected to work.

On August 4th, a user on this forum posted that PayPro Global support told them that Mike had been in contact with PayPro Global. (https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=179618#p179618)

Presumably Mike is aware of the situation and working on a solution. All we can do is continue to wait patiently.
