This disc uses newer version of AACS protection (AACS v82)

This is in the keydb. You can either download it manually and extract it to your MakeMKV data directory or if you're on Windows you can install my tool which uses FindVUK to synchronize the keydb and automatically copies it to your data directory for you.

I have the latest keydb but MakeMKV hangs with the message "This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting...".

I'm on version 1.18.1 which should support AACS v82, is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Code: Select all

MakeMKV v1.18.1 win(x64-release) started
Using LibreDrive mode (v06.3 id=0FA242DD4D0B)
Using direct disc access mode
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting http://www.makemkv.com/a/?bbaum3+jlbmvqU...

If you have the latest keydb that shouldn't happen so either you didn't extract it, you put it in the wrong location, or didn't restart makemkv after copying it to the data directory.

Makemkv does not yet have support for v82. My tool can be configured to support v82 if you follow the instructions I laid out. It'll then automatically add your titles to the keydb and copy it to the correct data directory for makemkv to use.

Ah okay. I'm on Linux so didn't really read the link but I'll take another look, thanks.

Unfortunately my tool doesn't work in Linux. But make sure you extract the keydb from the zip file you download and extract it to the same location where the dump files are created. Then restart MakeMKV and it'll work. Remember that the keydb is constantly being updated so you will need to update it regularly for newer titles. It's not a "one and done" kind of thing.

Got it working - turns out MakeMKV wasn't hanging, it was just taking a few minutes to open the disc. Thanks!
