I Love Lucy the Complete Series Blu-ray
I Love Lucy the Complete Series Blu-ray
Anyone else figure out what's going on with this collection when ripping the discs. It seems starting with the last episode of Season 2 (Ricky's Life Story), the discs are not matching with the information on IMDB and therefore causing issues on Plex. The number of episodes on IMDB for season 2 shows 31 (including Ricky's Life Story). The collection has Ricky's Life Story as the first episode of season 3. I'm confused as to how to fix this since they're not matching.

I ripped that same set of disks last week, and as best I can tell, you just have to figure out which episode is which and name/organize them accordingly without relying on them being in a particular order or even on the correct disk. I did that by looking at snippets of each episode (via VLC) to match its content to the corresponding TMDB description, which was tedious but worked. As for Ricky's Life Story, I'm guessing it wound up on disk 1 of season 3 because it "fit" without adding another disk to season 2 or compromising the quality of the episodes in either season.
I've ripped about 50 different series so far, and some had their episodes written to disk in broadcast order while others didn't, and I've seen some strange stuff. For example, I'm currently ripping Gunsmoke (20 seasons, with the earlier ones having 39 episodes apiece), which has mostly gone smoothly. However, for one season I found an "extra" episode that belonged to an earlier season, and the episode in its spot read from that earlier season's disk was a duplicate of an episode from an even earlier season. Another series had disks that matched the broadcast order but the episodes were consistently written "backwards"; for example, disk 1 of a season had the first four episodes, but episode 4 was written (and read by MakeMKV) first, while episode 1 was written last. The most painful one I did was a series where episodes were in seemingly random order and watching snippets wouldn't have helped much, so I resorted to matching guest actors in the end credits to those listed on the Internet.
Of course, it helps a lot when each episode displays its name, particularly when it occurs at the same time in every episode, but Lucy wasn't one of those. So yeah, it was a hassle, but at least I only had to do it once.
