"AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive" Issue

I just got this error for the first time. I bought a second drive since I have a LOT to rip. Both drives are LG, but this second drive is throwing this same error. "AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive"

Drive model number is UH12LS28 by LG

Tell me what information you need to fix this in the next or any upcoming release, how to get it to you, and I'll happily do so. I owe a lot to you guys so donations arent a problem.

Have you ever inserted any newly released disc into this drive? Did this drive ever worked for any disc? Is it a recently manufactured drive?

That's the drive - specification sheet and all. I just got the drive so I havent had any luck with it yet. Nor do I have any "New" bluray releases to try on it yet. Sorry for the lack of information, but I hope the spec sheet helps.

Do you have any BluRays that work with your original drive that you can try in the new drive?

I have tried dozens of blurays that work with the original drive. None of them work with this drive.

If you purchased the drive as new, from a reputable retailer, return it.

If you purchased it used, TRY to return it...

meaning what exactly? Any new bluray drive I buy will no longer work? I dont understand what you're suggesting here. I need a second drive to rip blurays from. Any suggestions on where to buy one? I bought this one from newegg

I have no idea about what's causing your issue, but if you're looking for a recontamination for a drive that works well with MakeMKV then both the Plextor PX-B120U and Plextor PX-B310U have worked flawlessly for me, if a little slow (they're both USB). They're both available from Amazon and Newegg.

I dont understand what you're suggesting here.

I'm suggesting that you return the problematic drive in exchange for a new replacement...

Problematic is too general a term. The drive works just fine when used... properly. Clearly it's in this projects best interest to get this drive and others like it working.

You appear to be contradicting yourself:
I have tried dozens of blurays that work with the original drive. None of them work with this drive.

and then:
The drive works just fine when used... properly.

Perhaps another member will be better able to understand and assist you...

I'm sorry... what I meant is that the drive is capable of playing the bluray discs just fine. However, it's incompatible with makemkv, for the time being at least.

What player software did you use to play blu-ray from this drive?

The drive came with Cyberlink PowerDVD 9. I installed it solely for the purpose of making sure the drive isn't defective. It plays all the BluRay discs without any problems. Unfortunately, it's still not working with makemkv... even after todays new release :(

I'm willing to send the drive to the dev team if we can arrange that. Please contact me via PM to discuss.

Thanks to everyone who sent additional logs. The issue is confirmed and documented at http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3559 . If you have a drive that is on the list and it still works - do NOT update the drive firmware under any circumstances.
