Terrifier stuck scanning cd rom!

I have an -ASUS BW-16D1HT- and when I try and load Terrifier on Blu-ray it wont read the disc and just says scanning cd rom until it times out and says no disc.
Usually means that the drive couldn't detect the disk due to errors. Does it work with other disks?
Sometimes the disk is simply dirty in the "wrong places". The system has to detect the disk to be able to extract files from it.
