Are you also looking for UHD compatibility?

hey folks,

i'm trying to add blu ray playback to some family laptops. is it better to get a blu ray burner instead of a reader, and if so, what would you recommend? 9.5mm for reference. Thanks.
LG BU40N or Pioneer BDR-UD04. Both are 9.5mm. The LG is the preferred model and can easily be made UHD rip capable if required. The pioneer may be UHD rip capable depending on it’s firmware version.
Cheers :D

QUESTION: How about an external UHD Blu-ray drive to rip HDR and Dolby Vision Blu-rays from?

Same drives in a Vantec enclosure or Archgon BU40N. Other options are: BP60NB10, WP/BP50NB40 cross-flashed to BU40N or BP60NB10 firmware.
