Main title of several disks will not save

Post by vila818 »

Hello, I have an issue where on multiple blu-ray disks everything except the main title will save on some titles. I have searched this forum and google with no success in finding an answer.
I have performed the following troubleshooting steps:
  • Cleaning disks several times
  • Cleaned the drives heads
  • Ensuring computers power settings are correct
  • Reinstalled MakeMKV on both computers
  • Tried both drives on both computers
  • Set the retry setting to 25
I can't think of anything else to do. Both drives have been flashed via instructions from this forum. This issue does not happen on every disk but the last 10 I have tried are problematic.

Here are some interesting tidbits from the log:

Things get worse from there and eventually there's a 20,000 line debug statement… truly the most impressive I've ever seen from MakeMKV.

You've done pretty much all things we'd tell people to do when their optical drive is having trouble reading a disc. Since you're using a BU40N, I assume that's an external drive. Is it in an enclosure with its own power supply or is it powered by USB?

It is external. It is the archgon MD-8107-U3YC-UHD. It's USB-C and from the same computer I can power two 13 inch displays on a single port so I figured an external power source might not be needed.
I saw it was used on on this video

My wife has a huge library of movies, over 2000. I purchased a pretty beefy NAS to run plex. Maybe this drive does not fit the use case?
