Failure Ripping Terminator 3 Blu-Ray

Posted: Fri Jan 07, 2011 7:32 pm
by redray2323
Hi,

Any help will be much appreciated! I have gone through countless blu-rays, but this title is the first and only one that indicates that the title failed to save. (I use the Mac version 1.6.3 and have a Plextor Blu-ray drive).

I tried installing an older version of MakeMKV on another machine (1.6.2) but, wasn't able to since it would crash out before I could enter my registration code.

Thanks in advance and please let me know if I can provide any additional information.

I believe this is indicative of either a dirty or damaged disc...

Hmm, disc looks fine but will get a replacement disc and see if I have the same problem. First time this has ever happened like this. I have had messed up discs that just clocked for a very long time and I had to abort. This is a bit of a different scenario. I'll report when I get a new disc. Thanks.

New disc, same issue, leading me to believe it is MakeMKV, not the disc. Granted I have tried countless other titles and they have all worked flawlessly. Any guidance would be appreciated!

FWIW, I had no trouble using MakeMKV approximately 1.60 ripping US T3 [commercial release BD] on a Win7 x64 system with a Lite-On drive. Probably this doesn't help, but it's a data point...

What is the title and region of your original, commercial Blu-ray disc?

Looks like video stream is corrupted. What happens if you do a full disc backup with MakeMKV?

I get the same thing. One interesting thing is it rips all files except title01.mkv fine. Here are the sizes for the others:

14,643,727,788 title01.mkv
506,211,940 title02.mkv
151,006,602 title03.mkv
83,753,179 title04.mkv
116,717,883 title05.mkv
256,114,124 title06.mkv
348,043,724 title07.mkv
93,378,750 title08.mkv

The disc is pristine. I have tried to rip title01.mkv alone twice after cleaning the disc and both times it runs to completion and then gives an error message right at the end. It doesn't seem to be a defective disc - I have had defective discs before and what happens is it pauses and retries the disc somewhere in the middle and then craps out after spinning its wheels for a bit. With this one, it runs to completion without errors until "Remaining" is 0:00:00 and then it throws the error. Here is the log:

I did the full backup. No errors. I guess the log reflects that:

005070:0080 Backup done
005081:0104 Backup done.

The backup produced a file G:\video\backup\TERMINATOR_3\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts that appears to be a full 1080p copy of the main film.

I wonder what the problem was? Anyway, this is good enough for me. Thanks for the suggestion, I had not tried a full backup before.

I'd like to revisit the Terminator 3 issue. Although the disk is readable (and can be backed up), it cannot be converted to MKV.

Attached is a log of trying to make an MKV from backup...

Terminator 3 rip Title 00 keeps failing before completion and won't produce a dump file. There doesn't appear to be a solution in this thread. Anyone have a suggestion?
