Rising Sun

Post by edwillia »

I have been able to copy every Blu Ray disk I have, about 300, with the exception of Rising Sun. It was so frustrating I bought a second copy, that is slightly different (if has different cover art and contents) and it cannot be copied. One simply runs for a while then says No Disc Inserted. The second, I got to copy for a while but then it died complaining about too many hash check errors in file 00003.m2ts. Has anyone successfully copied this movie and do you have any suggestions?

Did you, perhaps, purchase a UHD/4K copy, and try ripping it in a non-UHD/4K drive? That will get you the "No disk" warning from the operating system.

Hash checks are when what is read from the disk doesn't match up with what the disk says it should be. Some older versions of MakeMKV had problems with incorrectly calculating the hash, but those are OLD.

Do you have Debug Logging enabled? There's a link in my signature that explains how to do it.

Knowing what errors you're getting would be VERY helpful, and debug logging is much more verbose about such things than standard logging.

I think the OP means the movie from 1993 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107969/ which I do not think has been released on UHD (https://www.blu-ray.com/Rising-Sun/18120/).

Correct, neither of these are 4K movies.
