Hello all,

Anyone manage to rip this guy? My Blu-Ray drive is working fine, recognized 2 other discs. Won't even recognize this disc in the drive.

Also seeing a disc with a rounded edge for the first time is kind of mind-bottling.

Same outcome here. I've got the red-box blu-ray version.
Also have an LG Blu-Ray HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS40.

I hope you all know, that the disc is identified by the Operating System. As long as this does not work, MakeMKV cannot see the disc.

The disc reads from the inside outwards so the outside edge should have no effect. My real question is the "mind-bottling". Spell checker error or Cockney rhyming slang?

Odd, I couldn't get my PC Blu-Ray drive to recognize it either. I DO have a small USB backup Blu-Ray player drive I used for an old laptop that recognized the disc though.

Slim LG Blu-Ray Player / DVD Burner
Model: BP50NB40

My desktop drive didn't recognize it (ASUS BD-16D1HT), either, but after I read your post, I tried it in my Pioneer BDR-XD05 and it was recognized immediately.

Might be semantics but, I dont think I follow this. Please share your detailed thoughts so we can relate.

I got a redbox version today from a place near work in another city, same thing - disc isn't recognized by the drive - it just keeps spinning up and down trying to read it.

@Grauhaar - isn't it the drive firmware reads the disc to determine what type it is (DVD, Blu-Ray, CDROM), then the OS tries to read it's contents.

Currently the drive just spins up and down and makes grindy noises, and the OS recognizes other blu-ray discs and dvd discs, which leads me to believe that the drive isn't recognizing what kind of disc it is, is this an inaccurate assessment in some way?

@jinx100 - Ever since I heard Will Ferrell say something was mind-bottling, like your mind in a bottle in Blades of Glory, it stuck with me as extremely humorous. People thinking they're more intelligent than myself is commonplace, so they just assume I'm dumber than themselves. Some try to correct me which is when I explain the Blades of Glory reference.

Same issue of not recognizing that a disk is in the drive....

Drives:
ASUS BW-16D1HT - Does NOT work :(
LG-WH16NS60 - Does NOT work :(
LG-BU40N - Does NOT work :(
Pioneer - BDR-XD05 - DOES work! (Old-School Drive; 2015) :D

I wonder what is different with this hardware???

Yes, the drive detects the type of the disc, but the OS interprets the file system and data structures.

It is hilarious. I immediately pictured a mad scientist's laboratory. Thanks for explaining its origin.

Any update on this?

Just picked a copy up today and was disappointed that my drive won't recognize it.
