Bluray backup on mac

Anyone with mkv on mac have playback issues with bluray backups when uhd works fine?
Im redoing them incase it was just a bunch a bad copies but wanted to hear if i have a setting off or something.
Had same issue with 3d. It just shows as files and doesnt actually play. Like a disk copy with no decoding or playback ability.
