Read errors are read errors - the drive said it couldn't read the sector.
Fortunately, most of them can be fixed by cleaning. Especially if the disks have been stored in their cases for any significant period of time. Chemicals used in the packaging have a bad habit of migrating to the media itself, leaving a haze that is more insidious than fingerprints, because it LOOKS clean. Until you wipe it down.
