So weird behavior on one of my PCs. Otherwise MakeMKV working fine on other computers, with other discs. No matter the disc, MakeMKV is hanging at exactly 256MB output. Very weird! Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Using latest 1.14.7 version. Any ideas? TIA.

Preferences->IO, try changing the "Read buffer size (MB)" to 64MB. Does the rip then stop at 64MB?

If it does, you probably have an issue where MakeMKV is not being allowed to write its cached data to the output file.

Just for the sake of anyone experiencing same problem, I discovered what happened. Recent Windows 10 v1909 update "broke" Thunderbolt 3 networking for me. I put all mkv's on a QNAP attached by Thunderbolt 3; evidently, because of buffer, MakeMKV would just rip 256MB and "give up" when the data had no place to go @256MB of ripping. I dropped back to v1809 Windows 10 and Thunderbolt 3 networking working again and discs ripping fine. So... not a MakeMKV problem at all.

Ah, the perils of beta testing Windows 10...

And don't let Microsoft try to convince you otherwise; the people who let Win10 update on Microsoft's schedule are getting the beta release, which will be fixed up right around the next release.

Thanks for getting back to us on this.
